WAR OF THE WORLDS (Now In Theaters)
Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning
Ray Ferrier (Cruise) is a hard working dock loader, and immediately after work meets his ex-wife who is dropping off the kids; Rachel (Fanning) and Robbie (Justin Chatwin). The two will be staying with Ferrier for a few days, but things go from bad to worse when Robbie takes off with the car while his dad was sleeping, strange electrical storms and underground rumblings that have been occurring all over the world, have finally reached their New Jersey home town.
The effects for this film are not bad and peaks the viewer's interest at an above average level, along with the "predictability factor" being kept at a minimum; especially for those who know nothing of the book written by H.G Wells, or the film made in the 1950s. Although, the minor annoyances; such the running scenes that get repetitious and how the film depicts people literally taking the time to observe disaster instead of running; initially the film does manage to intrigue moviegoers.
